Program:  Working Together - How local Community Foundation services and tools assist your charitably inclined clients

In this session, BCEPC members Lynda Ricketson, Vice President of Philanthropic Services for the Community Foundation Boulder County and Eric Hozempa, CEO of the Longmont Community Foundation, will share descriptions of the tools that community foundations offer and provide anecdotes of solutions created while working with advisors and clients to fulfill charitable goals.  Join us to learn how you can best utilize the charitable expertise offered by community foundations to help your clients.

To help facilitate networking and communication, we welcome you to join the meeting at 11:30am.  As you 'enter' the meeting, you'll be randomly placed in a breakout room with other members.

CE Credit:  CLE, CFP & CPA approved. Designed for CPAs, attorneys, financial planners, CLUs, ChFCs, and others practicing in the estate planning field.

Presenters:

Eric M. Hozempa 

Eric has more than 30 years of nonprofit experience in his current position as the CEO of the Longmont Community Foundation, Eric works to improve the community through philanthropy and charitable leadership.  

Prior to working for the Foundation, Eric was employed as a consultant with Richard Male & Associates (RMA), specifically in the areas of fundraising and marketing.  Eric has presented at local and national trainings and facilitated nonprofit discussions and retreats on topics ranging from major gift fundraising to strategic planning.  Prior to his work with RMA, Eric worked with a variety of small to large Colorado nonprofits that focus on volunteer management, health care, the environment, and arts and culture issues.  His work experience includes: Program Manager for Metro Volunteers, Director of Development for Dental Aid, Development Director for Eco-Cycle and Membership Director for Rocky Mountain PBS.

In addition to his work commitments, Eric serves on the boards of the Advancement Network and is past President of the Boulder County Estate Planning Council.

Eric grew up in Boulder County and graduated from the University of Colorado, Boulder with a B.A. in philosophy.    Eric enjoys hiking, fly fishing, roasting his own coffee, riding his scooter, and gardening.

Lynda Ricketson

Lynda Ricketson has over thirty years of experience in the nonprofit sector. She currently serves as the Vice President of Philanthropic Services for the Community Foundation Boulder County. Ricketson has experience from three other community foundations - Community First Foundation in Arvada (VP Philanthropic Services), the Women's Foundation in Denver (VP Philanthropy), and the Rose Community Foundation (Program Officer and Philanthropic Services Officer). She also has higher education experience, having served as the Director of Development and Alumni Giving at the University of Denver's Graduate School of Social Work. 

Ricketson earned a Master's in Liberal Studies with a writing concentration at the University of Denver and a Bachelor’s in English at Metropolitan State University. She earned her Certified Fund Raising Executive designation by CFRE International in 2014. Lynda is a current board member and co-chair of the membership committee for the Colorado Planned Giving Roundtable. She serves as a mentor for the Institute for Leaders in Development as well as the Colorado Planned Giving Roundtable. She has been a member of the Boulder Estate Planning Council since 2018. Also a writer, Lynda is an active member and former board member for Lighthouse Writers Workshop.
